WHERE TO STAY- ZONA CENTRO

We encourage friends and family to check out Airbnb for many beautiful and affordable home rentals in San Miguel. Stay in Zona Centro to be within walking distance from all the festivities! We do not have room blocks, but below are several hotel recommendations.

FLIGHTS & SHUTTLES

Fly into Queretaro-QRO (1 hr away) or Leon- BJX (1 hr and 15 mins away). Most major airlines including United, American, Aeromexico and Volaris fly to QRO and BJX. Aeromexico and Volaris offer non-stop flights. You can book roundtrip airport transfers ($30 USD per person) on Bajiogo linked below, or more transportation options in our FAQ.

FAQs

Is there a dress code?

The dress code for our wedding ceremony and reception is Summer Formal: long formal dresses for women and suit and tie for men. Tuxedos are acceptable but not required. For the welcome party, which will be outdoors, we encourage cocktail dresses, maxi dresses, or skirts for women (florals and bright colors strongly encouraged) and slacks or khakis with collared shirts or guayaberas for men (short sleeve OK!). No jacket/tie required. The welcome cocktails will be on a grassy area so we encourage women to wear comfortable shoes- no stick heels.

How do we get to and from the airport (either Queretaro or Leon)?

Book airport transfers on BajioGo from BJX, QRO, or Mexico City: https://www.bajiogo.com/en starting at $30 USD per person. They offer both shared and private transfers. You can also message any of the drivers below on Whatsapp to coordinate your airport transfers, we have used all of these trusted drivers before:
- Martin Arevalo: +52-415-100-7528
- Gerardo Ortiz: +52-415-156-4986
- Chris FBG Group: +52-415-140-0087

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Both the ceremony and reception will take place at the same venue: Instituto Allende on Ancha de San Antonio. The venue is walking distance from most hotels or airbnbs in Zona Centro, where we encourage everyone to stay. It is an outdoor venue.

Make sure to arrive 15 minutes before the ceremony starts.

Are kids welcome?

We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults only event (unless you're family). You are more than welcome to make this a family trip, but we appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time to leave your little ones at home or with a nanny during the ceremony and reception.

Can I bring a plus one?

We have a very strict guest list and capacity limit and will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. Thanks for understanding.

When is the RSVP deadline?

We encourage you to RSVP on this website as soon as possible, and no later than May 1st 2024. If you don't RSVP by May 1st, we'll miss you!

Travel Requirements

Check your passports to make sure you can travel to and from Mexico. Early to mid-20s guests likely have to renew your passports soon, which can take time! Reminder, the currency is mxn pesos. There are dozens of ATMs to get pesos near the jardín (main plaza), but you can always get pesos from your bank prior to coming. A majority of shops and restaurants accept credit cards.

How to get around SMA?

San Miguel is an old, historic colonial town with mostly cobblestone streets and sidewalks. If you are staying in Zona Centro (recommended) you will be walking everywhere so please bring comfortable walking shoes! If you are not staying in the heart of San Miguel, taxis and ubers are readily available.

What's the weather going to be like?

Expect hot temperatures during the day up to 85 degrees and cooler temperatures in the morning and evening as low as 65 degrees. Our wedding ceremony and reception will be outdoors and it will be hot until late in the evening, so plan accordingly.

Can I drink the tap water?

Like most Mexican destinations you've traveled to (Cabo, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta), we recommend you avoid drinking tap water in San Miguel and at the airports. Bottled water is accessible everywhere and served at all restaurants and bars, and can be purchased at 'tienditas' (corner stores) on nearly every street.

Should I stay at an Airbnb or Hotel?

One of the main perks of staying at an Airbnb is that the majority come with staff (including housekeepers and cooks) that can make you large breakfast spreads in the morning, make up your rooms every day, and do laundry or iron/steam if needed. If you're with a large group, this is a very fun way to experience San Miguel. If you're looking for a more private stay, see our hotel recs for both luxury and budget friendly options.
